Policy For Hiring Those With Felony Convictions

We received the following response after contacting them regarding their hiring policies for those with felony convictions:

“CTG complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws concerning equal opportunity for job seekers. We are an IT solutions and services company, and the majority of our employees are working on projects for our customers.

Most of CTG’s clients do require a completed background check, but each client has different background check criteria. Therefore, job offers for these positions are contingent on successful completion of a background investigation. Hiring is not completed until a background check report is complete. All background check decisions are made based on the client’s and CTG’s requirements.

Have They Hired Former Felons?

As stated above, there may be some situations that they can work with and hire former felons but it is up to their clients.

Specific Program For Hiring Former Felons

They do not have a specific program for the hiring of those with felony convictions.

Who Makes Hiring Decisions

Hiring decisions are made by both the hiring manager of Oasis with input from their client companies. Company wide guidelines are also followed but nobody is automatically excluded. Typically in these situations the hiring manager is the final decision maker with Human Resources supporting the manager and ensuring that Federal, State, Local, and company policies are followed.

The Best Way To Secure A Position

We received the following response from CTG:

“The best way or someone to apply for a job at CTG is to search for positions matching your skill set is to visit our public Careers page. There they can create a profile and apply to posted jobs that they are interested in and qualified for if they have not already done so. The information below will help people do that do that.

USING CTG’S CAREERS SITE:
CTG is a client focused IT Solutions and Services company. Our hiring needs vary depending on the needs of our clients. If we need to hire staff for project assignments those jobs are normally posted on CTG’s public Careers website. CTG Jobs may also appear on other job boards.

We encourage you to apply online wherever you see one of our jobs posted. For jobs on some job boards you will be taken to that job on CTG’s Careers website to apply. Doing so gets your credentials to the recruiter(s) who are responsible for that job immediately and creates a profile for you in our system so other recruiters are aware of your talents. The openings posted at any given time in any given geographic area change daily. If a job you saw previously is no longer posted it means it has been put on hold, filled or closed, however you can apply for any other positions you are both interested in and qualified for.

If you appear to be a good fit for any positions then a recruiter will contact you. CTG may receive a very large volume of qualified applicants for each job we post. This fierce competition means that sometimes we reach the maximum number of candidates we can submit to the final decision maker quickly and may have to wait for a decision on those candidates before moving forward with others.

I worked for CTG in a co-employed situation with a major technology company. The client company required a 7-year criminal background check. My felony occured more than 7 years prior to my application. I disclosed the felony to CTG, and truthfully answered (in the negative) the client background check form, which asked if I had been convicted of a felony in the last 7 years. I was hired, worked for several months, then released shortly after the client was notified by the state of my felony status. I was released from CTG because the client informed them that my services were no longer needed, and that my termination was not performance related.
