Awesome content you post here!
There’s definately a great deal to know about this topic. I love all of the points you’ve made.
Not enough information…
I like that you do more than publish a list. You contact the company and ask specific questions. However, one of the companies you list is Veritude Staffing. Yet when I look at the details, the employer all but says they do not hire felons. They basically say that it would be unlikely that they’d ever hire a felon. I think the list would have more integrity if companies with this kind of attitude toward felony applicants were not lists.
I think any information that is posted pertaining to this topic is very helpful! I am personally a felon who has just been released from prison in July of this year, so far i have yet to find a job that will hire me, i’ve been turned down numerous times and it gets very discouraging! I dont give up and i put in atleast 10-15 apps every week.. Please keep posting information to help people like myself, it is much appreciated!! thank you!
When applying for a job either skip the question about felonies or simply put will explain in interview. Then after the interview, when you call to follow up ask them if it was the felony that is the reason they won’t hire you. If it is ask to get that in writing, then you can prove to the judge that your trying but being on probation isn’t helping and ask for termination of probation. Either way you can’t lose.
Thank you for compiling the list of companies that accept people with felony. It will go a long way to help.
I currently work at Dunkin Donuts, and on their online application they include the Work Opportunity Tax Credit form. I was honest on my application, and then followed up in person regarding the position. I was hired on the spot, and the manager who hired me did not conduct a background check. I started June 10th, and have since been promoted to Shift Leader.
Also, prior to this I applied at Chipotle online, and then followed up in person. I was honest with the manager when I followed up and told him I was just released from prison, and about my felony. He proceeded to tell me that Chipotle does not conduct background checks. Needless to say my honesty did not get me the job.
I have a phone interview today with Cintas for an outside assistant sales representative and I will post an update regarding this company as well.
I wonder if this list applies to someone with a spotty job history? Or if there is a list out there for those with a poor job history?
Sally Beauty, Dollar Tree & Firehouse subs do not conduct background checks, also most 7-11 franchisee stores do not conduct background checks either. Walmart & Racetrac do conduct background checks & regardless if how much they want you & tell you that they will over ride the results due to your honesty unfortunately they cannot. They both said the decision is up to the background check company. Yet when you go to the background check company website they state that they are simply a third party contracted by companies for only conducting the checks accurately & that they have no say in whether you get the job. Do these companies are not bring forthcoming at all. It is actually illegal to not hire you based on your criminal history without first offering you the position. Hence, the background check & bring given the run around. So to go off the comment of someone here about getting that put in writing would be ideal for your probation getting terminated, you will have a very difficult time getting any company to put in writing that they are commiting discrimination. I may be mistaken but look into it to be certain. I hope my info helps.
Actually Kelly, its not illegal to not hire u bc of ur background check. But, if that is the reason, they’ve got to give u a copy of it & ur rights. And also, its kinda like the credit check…if ur turned down u can get a copy of thr in-depth check they performed within a certain amount of time. Oh, and its free
McDonalds has a company policy where they no longer hire felons
Walmart around Raleigh will not hire felons
I live in Massachusetts, Keep up with the new laws in your state. I was available to seal my CORI in 7 different court houses and now l am a hireable candidate. I went from 6 pages to 2 pages. It looks a lot better Don’t give up it’s a lot of work.
I went to interview for Amazon but because of background check I didn’t get hired
I got a job at Golf Galaxy which is owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods. I have a violent felony and they still hired me. I’m not sure they even did a background check.
FYI i was hired then had it rescinded at Starbucks even though I was upfront about my DUI felony. So I’d take them off your “hire felon” list.
Got hired on by ProLogistix, staffing agency with HSN. Was hired, worked for 5 days, and then terminated for my background.
This is very helpful, I am not a felon but work helping people find jobs many who have felonies. I applaud and appreciate your effort, thank you.
JP Morgan Chase hired me with a felony from 10 years ago, but required a court doc explaining one of the charges that was not supposed to be on my record as it was dismissed but never updated in the Federal system. It was a charge for fraud. so they wont hire people with charges like that. but small non violent or non sexual crimes they may still consider.
Krispy Kreme hired me with a non violent felony on my record so your claim that they don’t fire felons is false unless your talking about the corporate rather then the locations themselves
I worked at 7eleven franchise. Those hire felons but corporate stores don’t. I currently work at Pizza Hut so they hire felons. At least here in my town. And from what I’ve found out, any cleaners will hire felons. So if you’re fresh out, that’s a quick job to get at least till something better is found. Also , any local business rarely does a BC. Hope that helps someone.
I applied for a job at Walmart. I was turned down because of my criminal record. So I’d say no. They don’t hire felons.
