What are the chances of Arthrex hiring a felon?

Is Arthrex on the Ban the Box list?

Are you wondering what exactly Ban the Box is? It’s a campaign to rid employment applications of the question asking if you’ve been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony.

The Fair Chance Business Pledge is a part of this initiative eEstablished during the Obama Administration. It’s a promise by companies to give prospective employees a fighting chance by focusing on their skills and talents instead of their criminal past.

Although Arthrex doesn’t support either of these programs, there’s no question asking if we’ve been convicted of a crime on their application. We looked!

Does Arthrex have special programs for hiring felons?

Unfortunately, like many companies, Arthrex doesn’t offer any special hiring programs for felons. If you’re interested in this, contact your local employment agency, workforce development office, or even your community college.

What are the odds that someone with a felony will get hired?Uncertain likelihood of hiring felons

Our team has done extensive research and give your odds of getting hired at Arthrex with a felony as uncertain. Their company policy isn’t clear about whether or not they’ll hire felons. Our sources also offered very little information. However, Arthrex says they’re an equal opportunity employer, so it’s still worth submitting an application for an entry-level job.

How to get hired at Arthrex with a felony

What are some entry-level jobs?

The main entry-level job at Arthrex is a Packaging Technician, where your main duty is (no surprise) packaging the devices. This will be familiar with you if you have previous manufacturing or packaging experience. While it may not seem like your dream job, starting off in this position will give you a chance to work your way up through the company and establish a life-long career in the medical field.

Tips to get hired here with a felony

So you’ve decided you want to try to get hired at Arthrex with a felony, but aren’t sure where to start. We’re here to help! You’ll want to begin by customizing your resume to match what Arthrex is looking for.

Since they manufacture medical devices, if you have any experience in manufacturing or warehousing, be sure to add it to your resume. You’ll also want to include where you got the experience. Was it in prison? School? Previous job? Or did you teach yourself? Regardless of where you picked up the experience, put it on the resume.

Include your past work history, but only if it’s relevant to the position. For example, if you worked at a distribution center, include it on your resume. However, if you worked at a fast food restaurant, you can leave that off.

Be sure to list the correct name, address, phone number, and start and end dates of employment for each company.

If you need additional assistance with your resume, Relaunch Pad has come up with a guide to help you.

Arthrex only accepts applications through their website. So once you’re happy with your resume, you’ll need to access their careers page to find the position you’re qualified for and submit your application.

We also have some tips to help you get through the interview:

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early. This will give you a chance to fill out any pre-interview paperwork and show that company that you can be on time.
  • Dress appropriately. An interview is not the time for jeans and a t-shirt. You’ll want to wear something business casual, like a pair of khakis and a dress shirt or dress pants and a blouse.
  • Be polite and smile. The company is going to want to hire someone who is happy and pleasant. If a negative question comes up, try to spin your answer in a positive way.
    • For example, they will ask about your criminal history. Answer them with the community service or volunteer work you’ve done since your release, or tell them what you learned during your time in prison.
  • Be honest about your past. Don’t hide or lie about it. Arthrex will find out and it could cost you your job offer.

Prison doesn’t have to be a negative thing!

Does Arthrex do background checks?

We’re not sure. However, it’s important to keep in mind that most companies have to do some sort of check, even if it’s to verify you are who you say you are and that you can legally work for their company.

Here’s what you need to know about background checks:

Background checks vary from state-to-state. The states on the following list don’t care about any cases seven years old or older:

  • California
  • Colorado*
  • Kansas*
  • Maryland*
  • Massachusetts
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire*
  • New York*

  • Alaska
  • California
  • Hawaii
  • Indiana (limited check)
  • Kentucky
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • New York

Be aware that some states are able to see your entire record, including the not guilty cases. Here are those states:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Connecticut
  • DC
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Idaho
  • Indiana (extensive check)
  • Iowa

Company ratings

We did some online digging to bring you Arthrex’s ratings. Glassdoor.com gives them 3.6 stars out of 5. Of the 229 reviews, most of them are good. Employees seem to be happy with the benefits package, competitive wages and the opportunity for growth. They’re not happy with the lack of communication with upper management.

What felonies Arthrex will not hire

Arthrex didn’t tell us what felonies it avoids. We made some sugestions for convictions that will slow down your application in the next section.

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

Does Arthrex hire felons? We aren’t sure, though we do know certain felonies will hurt your chances. Because you’ll be working in a warehouse setting with many co-workers, violent crimes could cause a problem. Also, the medical devices you’ll be working with are very valuable, so any theft charges might make it impossible to get a job at Arthrex.

Does Arthrex hire sex offenders?

We aren’t sure, since the company didn’t tell us and we couldn’t find anything online about it.

Does Arthrex drug test?

We don’t know if Arthrex will drug test. Our best advice is to prepare as if they do. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
