“Clif Bar does not automatically disqualify applicants who have been convicted of a felony or have other criminal history. If an applicant receives an offer of employment, then the company will request a background check. If the applicant has a criminal conviction, then the company conducts an individualized assessment to determine whether it will move forward with hiring. The company will consider factors including, for example, the nature and gravity of the criminal history, the amount of time that has passed since any conviction (note the relevant timeframe may depend on the nature of the crime and other factors), the applicant’s rehabilitation efforts, and the nature of the job the applicant is seeking. The company will seek the applicant’s input and give the applicant an opportunity to respond if the company has concerns.”
So the short answer is yes, on a case-by-case basis.

We did some online exploring on Clif Bar’s ratings. Glassdoor.com gives the company 3.7 stars out of 5. Of the 83 reviews, 71% say they’d refer a friend. Pretty good, right? The reviews say there is a good work environment at Clif Bar as well benefits and a work/life balance. The downside seems to be the lack of room for advancement due to low turnover from upper management.
