“We’re committed to providing those that have mistakes in their past a second chance at employment. We do have a detailed background check policy that guides us in deciding if a potential candidate with a criminal history qualifies for employment at HP Hood.”
Have they hired felons in the past?
They told us they have and that they’re open to hiring felons. However, we couldn’t find any discussion on job boards confirming they have, so we don’t know how often they do.

They likely do hire those who have misdemeanors on their record. We couldn’t find concrete proof during our research. However, since they are open to hiring felons, they’ll be willing to hire those with misdemeanors depending on the conviction.

- Get a haircut the day before the interview and trim any facial hair.
- Cover visible tattoos. We don’t know their company policy regarding this issue.
- When you go for the interview, make sure you have deodorant on and brush your teeth.
In our research, we’ve discovered that HP Hood’s interview process is thorough. Some people reported a phone interview before an in-person interview. We saw multiple responses saying that there was a one-on-one interview followed by a panel interview.
You should also be ready to answer questions about your criminal history. Remember, your past doesn’t define you. Let them know you’re ready to get your life moving in the right direction.

- North Carolina

- South Carolina
The website glassdoor.com tells us that HP Hood has a 3.2 out of a possible 5-star rating and 41% of people say they would recommend working there to a friend.
The most positive responses from people who work or have worked at HP Hood revolve around their good pay and benefits. Workers praised the vacation and holiday time and pay as well as the overall work atmosphere.
As can be expected for any large company, there were complaints about management. There were also some complaints about having to work six or even seven days in a row. More people wanted flexibility when it came to the schedule.
