Tips to get hired here with a felony

Kellogg’s highlights six steps to getting hired with them on their website:

  1. Do a Career Search to find the job that suits your skills. Jump on their website and find a job that you’re qualified for.
  2. Apply to the desired job and submit your resume. The application link is included in the job description.
  3. A phone interview will be scheduled. No need to panic, it’s just some basic questions to go over your resume.
  4. Next will be an in-person interview. Great! They want to meet you face-to-face.
  5. They review your “paperwork,” which suggests a background check.
  6. Start your new job at Kellogg’s. Congratulations! You are an official Kellogg’s employee!

But before you start with Step 1, you’ll want to have a stellar resume ready. Be sure to include all of the essentials — the names, addresses and phone numbers of your previous employers, as well as your job duties and responsibilities. Share your reason for leaving the company.

You’ll also want to mention any specific skills you have in the manufacturing or food processing industry and where you picked up these skills. For example, did you work in manufacturing while in prison? Do you have previous work history at a food processing plant?

Once you get to your phone interview, make sure to have a copy of your resume nearby for quick reference. Answer the call promptly. Don’t let it ring more than two times, if possible. You also need to talk clearly. You don’t want the interviewer on the other end to think you’re mumbling through your answers or can’t hear you correctly.

Take your resume with you to your in-person interview, as well. You’ll want to bring an extra copy or two for the interviewers. Refer to it as needed.
